About

I grew up in Kolkata and spent five years at the Indian Statistical Institute there, first for a Bachelor's and then a Master's in Statistics. In 2026 I moved to Singapore for a PhD at NUS, where I work on long-read transcriptomics at the A*STAR Genome Institute of Singapore (A*STAR GIS).

I started programming in school, mostly C++, and never stopped. That led me into open source: contributing to the Citra and yuzu emulators as a teenager, then Heroic Games Launcher, and more recently Zotero, Stirling-PDF, Bioconductor, and packaging PLINK for Arch Linux.

At ISI, I found statistics to be the thing that tied it all together. I worked through projects in Bayesian statistics, statistical genetics, EEG data, and single-cell transcriptomics, and a lot of survey data about India along the way. I also spent a good chunk of my time running the tech side of Integration, ISI's annual fest, and eventually convening it.

I speak English, Hindi and Bengali natively, and I'm working on my German.

Uses

Arch Linux

On my laptop and on a home server. Bleeding-edge but stable, with the AUR, where I maintain a few packages myself.

Claude

My day-to-day collaborator for code and research, including Claude Code in the terminal. It helped build this site.

VS Code

Where most of my R, Python, and TypeScript gets written, with a pile of extensions.

Zotero

Reference management, self-hosted. I liked it enough to contribute to the Android app.

LaTeX

For everything that ends up as a PDF: papers, reports, and my CV.

Cloudflare

DNS, email routing, and Workers, including the one serving this page.

Svelte

This site is SvelteKit with mdsvex, built with Bun.
